K Basin West Annex - Richland, WA

Meier Architecture • Engineering has teamed with Areva Federal services to provide facility design expertise for the Hanford K-West Basin Sludge Removal Annex Facility. Meier’s integrated facility design approach is done in full coordination with ongoing process design by CHPRC, so that all actual process elements are fully represented in the facility modeling and accounted for in the construction documents.
Meier has led the Building Information Modeling (BIM) effort by providing the base Revit model along with modeling templates and standards for the team. Meier provides an easy-to-use combined model of all building and process systems that is updated weekly. With standardized view presets and animations built in, this Navisworks model is used for planning and clash detection. All this provides a robust and seamless coordination to ensure that all process and project needs can be met. Meier has added a 4th dimension to the BIM design effort by providing cost estimating linked directly through automated quantity takeoffs with standards and process to support reliable results. A 5th dimension is developed for linking the sequence of construction to the model in an active, visual “time liner”.
